Zach at the Gay and Lesbian Centre 38th Anniversary

Zachary attended the anniversary gala of LA's Gay and Lesbian Center on Saturday, presenting a tribute to drag performer Coco Peru. In Greg In Hollywood's report on the evening he has this to say about Zach ;

Zachary Quinto, a big movie star thanks to his role as Spock in the recent Star Trek movie, showed up to pay tribute to an old friend: Coco Peru.

He talked about being taken to one of Coco’s shows when he was just 22 (”A lot longer ago than it looks”) and remembers leaving the show “staggered by how powerful it was for me.”

Zachary paid tribute to Coco for having “the power of transcending limitations” and for being “completely unafraid.”

Quinto also read a message from Lily Tomlin (Liza Minnelli had appeared briefly on video and said to Coco: “You’re GAY? Who knew!”) and he won over the crowd for his total effort to sound somewhat like Tomlin – complete with a snort at the end a la her Ernestine character.

Zach attends Arcades benefit, but fans left out

Zachary attended a Save The Arcades event in Glendale today but fans were disappointed when they were refused entry. The event was seemingly only for press despite the official press release claiming that local consumers would be involved.

Journalist Jenna Busch tweeted this picture from the event and some fans said they did manage to get inside after a series of flukes, but that a lot more were left outside.

LJ user bdbdb said; "They wouldn't let the fans in the arcade, it was press only. There was a medium sized crowd of people all waiting, and waiting very patiently I might add. Waiting for a long time. When the press finally started leaving they told us that they weren't going to let anyone in, and that ZQ was going to be leaving out the back anyway... Dude, people were really disappointed! And the worst part (for them) I think is that this was all to help save/promote the arcade. Press is all well and good, but I know I would have spent a lot of money on games if I had been inside, and from the people I talked to they would have done the same."

It seems that the event was purely promotional and press only, but that the posting of the press release on a number of sites led to more interest than anticipated. The fact that the event was not mentioned on the Official Site or Twitter account suggests that Zach wasn't aware that the release invited the public.

Official NBC Press Release for Heroes 4

NBC have released the following info for Heroes Season 4 :

From creator/writer Tim Kring (”Crossing Jordan”) comes the award-winning “Heroes,” an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.

On September 21, “Heroes” returns with its fourth season and a brand-new volume – “Redemption.” As the dust settles from last season, our heroes attempt to settle back into their ordinary lives. But, as they will quickly discover, it’s not easy to go home again. They will face one pressing question: how do extraordinary people lead ordinary lives?

Previously, in “Volume 4: Fugitives,” our heroes made an attempt to return to their normal lives – but that attempt was cut short when Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) uncovered a deadly plot orchestrated by one of their own – Senator Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). After revealing to the government that there were people with special abilities, Nathan spearheaded an initiative to capture and imprison those people and used Noah Bennet a.k.a. H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Lives were torn apart. H.R.G.’s own marriage was destroyed. Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) was killed — literally shattered into frozen pieces.

Ultimately, it was Nathan who paid the price for his misdeeds – murdered at the hands of Sylar (Zachary Quinto). Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), devastated at the loss of her son, and H.R.G., in need of an ally within the government, convinced Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) to use his ability to repair the damage. Matt used mind control and forced Sylar to shapeshift into Nathan, while erasing Sylar’s own memories so he truly believed he was Nathan. Now, as far as everyone else knows, Nathan is alive and well. And Sylar is gone. But all of that is about to change…

This season, “Volume 5: Redemption” begins with our heroes putting their lives back together.

Claire is finding that her biggest challenges are forgetting her old life and starting college. How does someone who has led such an extraordinary life assimilate back into everyday college life? Any semblance of normalcy is shortly overturned when Claire’s roommate commits suicide and Claire discovers her new friend, Gretchen (guest star Madeline Zima), is hiding a secret herself.

Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) goes back to his old life in Japan, but discovers that he has a terminal illness. When Hiro can no longer keep his illness hidden, he sets out to fulfill his own personal bucket-list – righting the mistakes of his past. But will Hiro be able to correct the errors of his ways without severely altering the past and present?

Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to work as an ordinary New York City EMT, but he uses his abilities to save lives. Peter has become obsessed, looking for redemption and shutting out the rest of the world he once knew. How can he forget the past and begin anew? Peter’s life will quickly change when a hearing impaired woman, Emma (guest star Deanne Bray), enters his life. Emma has used her disability as an excuse to shut herself off from the world. But as a new and unique ability manifests, the shell she’s built around herself will begin to crack apart – as will Peter’s.

H.R.G. is adjusting to life as a single man. Charged with creating a new company, he is rapidly discovering that he needs more from his life. But how does a company man become ordinary? And, when Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) returns and offers H.R.G. compelling evidence of a new danger, it makes H.R.G. wonder if he should get back in the game.

Tracy Strauss, having risen from the dead, is consumed with seeking vengeance, but soon realizes that she has a real opportunity to reinvent herself. The question is: who should she be?

Nathan Petrelli, not realizing who he really is, returns to the Senate and begins to notice strange changes in himself. Most alarming, Nathan discovers that he has new abilities. These changes are not lost on Angela, who recognizes them for what they truly are – the emergence of Sylar.

Meanwhile, racked by the guilt of what he did to Sylar and Nathan, Matt Parkman returns to life as an ordinary family man. All he wants to do is to raise his son, love his wife and return to a fulfilling career as an LAPD detective. But what Matt doesn’t know is that something unfamiliar is buried deep within his psyche – Matt can see and hear Sylar. And this specter will haunt him until Sylar is returned to his body.

The biggest challenge for our heroes is a strange and dangerous carnival comprised of a traveling band of outsiders with powerful abilities, led by a charismatic and powerful leader, Samuel (Robert Knepper). Alongside Samuel is his right hand man, Edgar (guest star Ray Park), a deadly Speedster with a talent for knives, and Lydia (guest star Dawn Olivieri) the Tattooed Lady.

Samuel leads his flock to intersect with the lives of all of our heroes. He will find them, and he will entice them to join him. And together, they will ask the same basic questions: Who are we? What does having powers mean to the world? How should we live our lives – shameful or proud? Should we hide or live out in the open? And if the world of powers is revealed, how will the world ever recover?

Zach at Comic Con

Zachary will be in attendance at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, which runs from July 22nd to 26th.

Panels

Zach will be on the Heroes panel at the Bayside Hilton, at 3.15pm on Saturday. The rom holds 2,000 people but it;s best to get there and queue as soon as you can. They generally don't clear the room after panels (best to check first) so to be sure of a seat, get in there very early and stay sitting!

Then there's a race across town back to the Convention Centre in rooms 5AB, on the first floor. Here Zach will be appearing with his Before The Door partners Neal Dodson and Cory Moosa to talk about a new project. The room holds roughly 200 people, so if you want to see this, get there as early as you can. You might not make the Heroes panel AND the Archaia one, so get ready to make Sophie's choice!

On Friday there's a Heroes All Access party at the House of Blues from 3-5pm. If you're a Heroes All Access Member you can get in for free and get a whole host of free goodies. If not, you can queue and pay on the door but again, get there early. Zach will not be at the event but if you're a Heroes fan this can't be missed. It costs $10 on the door and there is merchandise to buy inside. David H. Lawrence XVII (Eric Doyle) will be there to sign, as will Oliver Grigsby, who wrote the episode 'I Am Sylar', and Jason Badower, the graphic novel artist.

All weekend you can pop down to the Paramount booth(3535) and get your free Spock foam hand. There is no advertised Sylar merchandise from NBC this year, but hang around their booth(4029)because they may have Heroes related bags and other swag hanging around. Also, Archaia comics booth is number 2635, might be worth loitering after the announcements on Saturday in case they have anything Zach-related going on.

And if you see a girl in a white tshirt with I AM SYLAR in black letters, that's me! Come and say Hi!

Speaking to Jam magazine, Zachary has confirmed that he will be producing and starring in a new movie about the global financial meltdown, in which he will play a rocket scientist who transfers his skills to financial forecasting.

The ODI has reported that Heroes will return in September and run for 19 episodes. There are also rumours that NBC will move the show to a more family friendly slot of 8pm in an effort to revive flagging ratings.

Adrian Pasdar, who bit the dust as Nathan Petrelli in the final episode of season 3, says that both he and Zach will be back for season four, with a delicious storyline which will see Sylar battle with his inner self and the personality of Nathan, imposed on him by HRG, Angela Petrelli and Matt Parkman.

Dates are tentatively pegged at either September 14th or 21st. There is no word as to when the series will be aired on BBC 2.

Fired Heroes director says good bye to Zachary

Greg Beeman, a director with Heroes from Season one, has been let go from NBC due to cost-cutting measures. In his final Heroes blog he takes time out to thank Zachary :

"Because I didn’t do the pilot I didn’t have influence over hiring the rest of the series regulars. But I was there, directing Zach at his first audition. It was an incredible, showstopping, performance. It was immediately evident that his range was phenomenal and I knew then and there we had something special. Zach is a true artist and I feel a deep affection for him. He is also a great person and a very giving actor to his fellow actors, to the crew and to the show. What’s especially amazing is that, as great as he is, I know how much he can still develop into the power of his craft. Beyond a doubt, I know that he will go on to greatness - because not only does he have the talent to achieve this he has the will, and I have immense respect for this quality within him."

Zachary Quinto at the Star Trek Premiere in London

Zachary attended the London Premiere on Monday night and we were there to greet him as an exuberant crowd gave him and the rest of the Star Trek cast a warm welcome.

Some had waited outside the Empire Leicester Square since 7am to catch a glimpse of the cast but it wasn’t until almost 5pm when the party got started. A custom blue Star Trek carpet was rolled out and the stars started to arrive, beginning with Simon Pegg (Scotty) in a traditional kilt. JJ Abrams, Eric Bana, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, John Cho and Karl Urban all attended and signed autographs for waiting fans whilst Zach’s brother Joe stalked the red carpet with two cameras, getting access which his fellow photographers could only dream of. Other attending celebs were Jonathan Ross with his kids, comedian Peter Serafanowicz who sported a Trek tshirt, Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, Lorraine Kelly and Anthony Costa, formerly of boy band Blue.

After a seemingly endless round of interviews Zach began signing and without a hint of bias we can say that he was easily the most popular cast member. He diligently signed for as many people as possible and was careful to acknowledge every fan individually as he made his way along the barrier. Jonathan Ross stopped him on the carpet to introduce his kids.

Fans had come from all over the country to see Zach, some like us had tickets for the screening itself as they had been available to buy with the proceeds going to the Prince’s Trust. Inside the cinemas JJ Abrams introduced the film with Zach, Chris Pine and producers Bryan Burk and Jeffrey Chernov.

The vocal crowd were particularly excited to see Leonard Nimoy as Spock, Zachary giving Kirk a Vulcan nerve pinch, and Simon Pegg’s excitable turn as Scotty.

Review will be up shortly! Hope you like our pictures in the gallery.

Heroes writer Oliver Grigsby tweets about Zachary

Today Oliver Grigsby, writer of episode 3.19 'Shades of Gray' promised he would tweet his fave Zach anecdote if he got to 1000 followers. Here's what he wrote.

"So, one of the best experiences I had during "Shades of Gray" was doing an early rehearsal with Zach and John Glover. We met at Zach's house, along with Greg Beeman, the director, and Zach's dog. The 4 of us sat at a table and Zach and John read the scenes. It was incredible to watch these two immensely talented actors explore the text, amazing what they can do with the tiniest bit of inflection. The one thing that would um... spoil... the moment from time to time was that Zach's dog kept farting... adorable, but smelly dog :)"

Star Trek to get sequel

Paramount pictures have announced that they are planning a sequel to the reboot of Star Trek, which hits cinemas worldwide on May 7th.

Variety reports that writers Robert Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof have been asked to deliver a script by Christmas this year, with a view to releasing the second film in the summer of 2011.

Lindelof told Variety; "There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet, but we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed."

"With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We'll be ambitious about what we'll do."

Zachary has signed for three Star Trek films, which would see him possibly working on the project until 2013.

Zachary appaears at Ojai Playwrites Auction

A report from the Ojai Plays Gala Charity Auction.Likewise, money was the theme around which conference artistic director Robert Egan organized the show, a collection of play excerpts read by an all-star cast that included Van Dyke, Dana Delany of “Desperate Housewives” and Zachary Quinto, who is Mr. Spock in the “Star Trek” film due in theaters in May.

And raising a nice little pile of it was the reason for a post-show auction — at the nearby St. Thomas Aquinas Parish hall — that had Quinto flashing Spock’s split-fingered salute at the audience.

He did so in an effort to get the bidding going on a package that included a visit to the set of his NBC show, “Heroes.” Bidding had stalled at $750 when someone shouted out the suggestion that he sweeten the deal with tickets to the “Star Trek” premiere. Quinto hesitated, blushed furiously, acquiesced and then watched in amazement as the bidding raced to $4,000....

...Enter Quinto as the third friend. Playing devil’s advocate, he asks Weber’s character if the artist who created the painting is “fashionable.”

Then, sounding a lot like Spock, he adds that, in the world of contemporary art, such a question is “logical.”

Quite.

Whilst at the event Zachary accepted Neil Patrick Harris's invitation to present an award at the American Magic Association awards in March.

TV Guide reveals Heroes spoilers

Warning! Spoilers Throughout!

American listings magazine TV Guide has published a raft of new information about the next episodes of Heroes, including an interview with Zach. They confirm that a major character will die in an early episode, and that a plane carrying the 'fugitive' heroes will crash, but that some will escape and go on the run.

The magazine tells how Sylar will team up with a relentless 'Hunter' hired by Nathan, after originally being his target. It also reveals that Sylar will meet his father, a taxidermist named Mr Gray : "Their meeting is distinctly different from what Sylar expects. It's very disappointing for him and sends him off on a cunning, very manipulative pursuit of power" says Zachary.

We've seen the pictures of Sylar and new character Luke played by Dan Byrd. "It's as if Jeffrey Dahmer had an apprentice" says creator Tim Kring. "They go on a cross-country road trip, stopping at diners and eating pie. It's very Route 66."

Zach adds, "We're back to the storytelling of Season One, less flying around and more human connection. There's no more of that emotional whiplash, who's good, who's bad - that we have in 'Villains'. The audience will really root for the characters again. It feels like we're back on an heroic journey."
